Aaron James Ramsey (born 26 December 1990 in Caerphilly)[1] is a Welsh footballer, currently playing for Arsenal after signing from Cardiff City.

Club career

Cardiff City

After impressing in an Urdd tournament as a youngster he signed for Cardiff City, who beat off competition from Newcastle United, as a schoolboy at the age of eight working his way through the club’s youth system eventually making his Cardiff City debut in the last home game of the 2006-07 Championship season, coming on to replace Paul Parry in the final minute of the 1-0 defeat to Hull City on 28 April 2007. In doing so, Ramsey became the youngest player to ever play for Cardiff City, aged just 16 years and 124 days,[2] beating the previous record holder John Toshack.

In June 2007, Cardiff City turned down a bid of over £1m for Ramsey from a London-based Premier League club.[3] The club has not been named, but it is widely believed that they have continued to watch Ramsey at every available opportunity during the 2007-08 season. Cardiff also turned down a £1m offer, although the deal was to start with a payment of £200,000 and rise depending on his future achievements, from Everton and their Merseyside rivals Liverpool are also watching the youngster.

He made his first league appearance of the 2007/08 season on 6 October when he came on as a late substitute for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in the 2-1 home win over Burnley. Ramsey signed his first professional contract in December 2007.[4] On 5 January 2008, Ramsey made his first full professional start for Cardiff in the FA Cup against non-league side Chasetown replacing the suspended Stephen McPhail. An impressive performance from Ramsey saw him head in the second Cardiff goal as they went on to win 3-1.[5] Due to his performance against Chasetown Ramsey was nominated for the Player Of The Round award, eventually losing out to Coventry’s Michael Mifsud.[6] He went on to make his first career league start three weeks later in a 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers and began to establish himself in the first team making several more starts in the Cardiff side. He made a total of 22 appearances during the season, his first full season of professional football, and played in five of the club’s six FA Cup matches, including the final, en route to the final.

Following Ramsey’s impressive performance in the 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Middlesbrough it was revealed that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had talked to Cardiff boss Dave Jones to enquire about Ramsey, joining Arsenal, Newcastle United and Everton in following his progress.[7] Cardiff Chairman Peter Ridsdale told the BBC that Arsenal’s bid of £5 million up front had been accepted. Arsenal’s bid did not include a loan clause that would allow Ramsey to stay at Cardiff for another season.[8]

Arsenal

On 10 June 2008 Ramsey signed a three-year deal at Arsenal after being flown out to Switzerland for face-to-face talks with boss Arsene Wenger at Euro 2008.

Ramsey’s preference for north London was confirmed by Cardiff this morning.

‘Cardiff City were informed on Friday morning that Aaron Ramsey’s preferred destination this summer is at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal,’ a statement on www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk read. ‘We will now continue the dialogue with the Gunners with a view to Aaron’s move being completed. ‘The move, unlike other options, however, does not include a loan-back period at Ninian Park for the 2008-09 season.’ After making his Bluebirds debut as a substitute against Hull in April 2007, Ramsey made 21 appearances last season, scoring twice.

Hopefully Arsenal will get the deals.

1st Half
what a game. stayed up for this match to see if van persie was to play and i’m glad that i did stay up. lol
The 1st goal by van Nistelrooy was really a poor decision by the referee as he was clearly offside. But the flag stays down.Holland 1:0 up.
The 2nd goal by Sneijder was a wonder goal. Superb counter attacking. After van Bronckhorst cleared off the line , the ball was quickly distributed upfront with a nice chasing by kuyt whereby he head towards Sneijder who volley in from the tightest angle.

2nd Half
Being down 2:0 italy. The italians simply didnt give up and went on chasing back every single ball. But to no avail as luck aint on their side. With Materrazi injuring his shin , grosso was called upon and did a great job as a left back. Good football and neat control by him running up and down the flank.

However the Italian’s attack were still pretty weak. Luca Toni as the target man needed another striker so as to play as his shadow to get balls been lay off by him. And true enough the coach saw the need to bring del piero on , subbing out natalie who was kept pretty quiet on the field doing nothing much. As usual the charisma of Del piero was indeed great in italian football. All the players were as if injected with a boost after he got on and he did have quite afew great chances but couldnt take it well.

Finally late in the game van persie was brought on !!

A foul by the dutch side give pirlo another chance to show how precise his freekick is but only to see van de sar who had a great game making a great diving save. Once again the ball was brought upfront quickly and this time by van Bronckhorst who lay off a great ball to kuyt whose shot was well saved by buffon. But kuyt continue running and in turn lob the ball back into the penalty box giving van Bronckhorst a free header. Zambrotta who tried to saved the ball knocks the ball back into the net.

3 - 0 i guess e score sums up everything =).

whereas for the france match -.-

Nasri To Complete Arsenal Move Today

Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri will arrive in London today to sign for Arsenal, according to reports from France…

Nasri To Complete Arsenal Move Today

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in Europe over the past few seasons and has been heavily linked with the Gunners in recent weeks.

Marseille-based newspaper La Provence reported last week that Nasri was on the verge of agreeing a ₤12.5 million move to the Emirates, and French daily L’Equipe has claimed the playmaker will travel to London to undergo a medical and agree personal terms.

The Algerian-descended playmaker only recently signed a new contract designed to keep him at Stade Velodrome until 2012, but it has since emerged the deal includes a release clause set at around ₤12 million.

Nasri is expected to replace the unsettled Aleksandr Hleb, who has received strong interest from Inter Milan and has recently been linked with Barcelona.

Gunner boss Arsene Wenger is likely to install Nasri on either flank, continuing his tradition of converting natural playmakers into wide midfielders, as he has done with the likes of Hleb, Tomas Rosicky and Robert Pires.

Nasri is expected to arrive in London in the morning, and will meet with Arsenal officials to agree personal terms before undergoing a medical at Shenley.

He will then be taken on a tour of the Emirates Stadium, and have his picture taken for the club’s official website, before flying out around 7:30pm to hook up with France national team in Clairefontaine for their pre-EURO 2008 training camp.
